‘The Forecasters’ Episodes | Photos Around WGN
I joined the newsroom of Chicago’s Very Own ✶ WGN NEWS as a Digital Supervising Producer in April of 2024.
A year later, after renewed focus and strategy on the digital WGN Weather Center and daily newsletter, and amid a push for original programming on the WGN+ streaming channel, I was pitched the opportunity to work with the team in the WGN Tom Skilling Weather Center to create and launch a new streaming show that would allow our experts to ‘nerd out’ on their craft.
After several weeks of brainstorming and collaborating with multiple departments around the station, as well as a few weeks of test episodes, ‘The Forecasters‘ officially launched August 19, 2025 — the first live original programming on WGN+ outside of simulcast news from WGN-TV.
The half hour show streams live weeknights at 7 p.m. CT on WGN+ and WGNTV.com. It is later available on demand on the WGN+ app and WGNTV’s YouTube channel.
Featuring meteorologists Demetrius Ivory, Bill Snyder, Alyssa Donovan, Tim Joyce, Morgan Kolkmeyer (and sometimes me), the show focuses on the weather, climate and environment.
Utilizing the reporting from correspondents around the Nexstar network of more than 100 newsrooms, we bring you a taste of weather events in Chicago and around the world. Sometimes it’s a deep dive on the forecast or weather phenomenon. Sometimes it’s wild weather video. Sometimes there are weather bets.
We’re having fun doing it, and we are finding an audience for our interactive show.
As Tim Joyce says, “The Weather is predictable, we are not.”
